This has been the first time I've allowed an amaryllis to develop seeds.
I'm undecided if I'm going to try to plant them or not.
Propagation by bulbs is so much easier, plus, I also really am not interested in propagation.
However, I was curious as to what amaryllis seeds would look like. They're big!

After the flower fades, a green bulbous pod forms at the base of the bloom.
This pod contains 50–60 black, papery seeds divided into three chambers.
Pods mature over 4–6 weeks, turning yellow or brown and eventually cracking open.
It takes 3–5 years for seedlings to bloom!
I used to have that kind of patience to wait, and have grown a flowering Bird-of-Paradise from seed.
But I now doubt I'd have the same patience. Five years is a long time to wait for a flower.
