Because the landscaper couldn't come up with a nontoxic shrub that would take full shade all day, my suggestion was to use a tall planter in the corner. We bought the planter today. It's 32" high and has a top planting diameter of 13". Right now, it sure doesn't look like much...
I have suggested using Coral Bells https://www.provenwinners.com/learn/heuchera around the base of the pot. Originally, I was thinking of using Hostas, but they are toxic to dogs. With Tara (who will chew on about anything organic), I'm not willing to take a risk. I've never grown Coral Bells before, so we'll see how this works out.
...whenever, the courtyard is finally cleaned out and planted. They got to look a lot better than this.
