Last Summer. this marigold variety was the favorite snack of resident groundhog nicknamed "Lumpy." However, Lumpy really seemed to not be overly picky about which marigolds he ate. All were in danger from him: https://pbase.com/britestar/image/173878895
Although I saw Lumpy early in Spring this year, he has not come back close to the deck. The new baby groundhogs (Lumpy's younger, half siblings) have shown absolutely no interest in trying to get on the deck. They are wilder (not human acclimated) than Maude's first litter. So, this year, our deck flowers have all been safe from the groundhogs.
