Cardinal in a Crab AppleTree 5-19-24

Climate Change seems to be altering the natural world.

Most of our Crab Apple trees don't seem to be flowering at all this Spring. Or even leaf out properly. Although not perfect, this https://pbase.com/britestar/image/167402719 was a more normal scene & how things should have been over a month ago.

However, trees are trees to the birds...

That is UNLESS they are looking for a place to nest. This fine fellow has a mate. But no nests here. Without flowers, the Crab Apple trees also won't produce fruit for birds (or other wildlife) to eat in the Fall.

Great shot of the cardinal, but worrisome about your trees.
