"If you needed an excuse to give your animal companion extra love today, here's a big one: It's National Pet Day!
As most pet owners will attest, pets are often the best companions who are always happy to see their owners and appreciate any time or gesture.
According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), research over the past 10 years has shown that pets can contribute to overall cardiovascular health by lowering cortisol, cholesterol and blood pressure levels."
"Our pet bring light and love into our homes, and it’s crucial to acknowledge that value at least one day of the year. National Pet Day on April 11 is a chance to recognize the animal-human bond that enriches the lives of both parties and those around them. Mark your calendars for each year, and then, plan the perfect celebration to show your pets how much you appreciate their presence."
Many pet stores and retailers offer special prices on this one day to encourage people to treat their pets with something new as a "I love you gift". And yes, I took advantage of that.

Above was not a posed shot.
Chile had just gotten finished playing with some of the things in the large collection of dog toys that our girls share. Bailey (as she finished her contented nap in the dog bed that the girls had received for Christmas 2023) noticed me pick up the camera. Bailey loves the camera. She immediately went over to Chile sitting in the toys. Seeing the other two girls together, Bella then had to also get into the act. Again, not posed. Just everyday life.
At our house, every day is "pet day" because our girls are sooooo appreciated and add so much to our lives.
