In 2024, the March equinox happened on March 19 at 11:06 P.M. EDT. This was the astronomical beginning of the spring season in the Northern Hemisphere and the autumn season in the Southern Hemisphere.

The above photo was taken about 4 hours before the actual Equinox.
The wildflowers are "Henbit".
Some consider Henbit a weed. However, this study groundcover helped to feed our resident groundhogs who came out of hibernation about 6 weeks ago. Henbit also looks pretty when in bloom, plus helps to retain the soil on the steep slope behind our house. As with many native wildflowers, "weed" or "flower" is all in the eye of the beholder.
