World Photography Day 2011

African Moon Moth

Related to our US native Luna moth, this nocturnal silk moth species is native to eastern and southern regions of Africa. They do not have a mouth, and don’t eat or drink in this life stage. But they certainly are beautiful and quite colorful.

What a stunner this is!! So similar to our Lunas, as you point out, but yet with real differences. Gorgeous. BV
