Trying Not to Blow Away 12-15-21

Another Weird Weather Day

Prolonged and reoccurring gusts of high winds of 60-65 MPH - along with sustained winds of close to 50 MPH - was a reality across our area all day long. This unusual windstorm carried with it dust and smoke from wildfires into neighboring states. Needless to say, the dogs weren't too happy about having to go outside to go potty. The girls had trouble just walking & Bella squinted most of the time. After doing what they needed to do, they sat down back-to-back together (something I've never seen them do before) to stabilize themselves against the high wind.

Later in the evening, fast thunderstorms then moved through; with wind gusts (at our house) of 77 MPH!!! Then, I later saw on Internet News this news headline:"98 mph winds were recorded in a Kansas City." I don't think we got that, but the Metro overall had a lot of wind damage. There were several large trees down in our neighborhood. Luckily, we had absolutely no damage. Power outages were also a problem, but again, we were lucky and spared.

In other parts of the city, there were wildfires (even in the pouring rain) that were sparked by the high winds. Tornado warnings (in another part of the Metro) were also reported by live local news. After what happened East of us over the weekend, everyone (including the local meteorologists) were very much on edge. Local TV coverage (all stations) was nonstop weather news for several hours.

A record high temperature was also set for the day; which was close to an all-time record December high. What a day!!!
