Missouri Dead Last

in the Nation on Vaccine Rollout.

Experts say vaccine campaign needs to speed up in Missouri. The Associated Press reports that Missouri is not vaccinating residents fast enough to achieve COVID-19 herd immunity by the summer months.

Just 4% of Missourians have received the first dose of the COVID vaccine. Only a very small percentage of that 4% have received both doses. Kansas and Missouri are at the very bottom of all 50 states trying to vaccinate their residents against COVID-19; with Missouri being dead last.

The county where we live (and where I’d eventually get my vaccination) has this notice on their Web Page: The county “currently has no vaccine in our possession”. The state governor also says ““The most important thing Missourians should know is that we don’t have a stockpile. As soon as we get vaccine from the government, we get it out all across the state but it’s all its been slow coming in.”

Our governor has long supported Trump and his policies. Missouri is a “NO MASK”; no restrictions state.

Meanwhile, "the University of Kansas Health System (serving the greater Kansas City area) has strongly cautioned against Super Bowl watch parties for Chiefs fans." However with the hometown team on their way back to the Super Bowl for the second year in a row, many are sure to disregard that caution.

Nationwide: The United States reported 147,254 new coronavirus infections and 1,758 virus-related fatalities on Monday, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

Although US COVID statistics seem to finally be "plateauing", that plateau is unacceptably high. Over 1700 Americans dead from COVID in just one day is not good. Especially when this is a continuing trend. Although it's not as high as a couple of weeks ago, think of how many families are still needlessly losing friends and loved ones. Imagine how many people 1700 really is. It's no small number. It may even be more than all the people together in your entire community. Although lower than they have been, COVID statistics in the United States are still absolutely horrifying.

We need to get people vaccinated;
PLUS all of us also must follow basic pandemic health guidelines.

Wear a mask!!!
Take the vaccination when you are offered it.

Even if you are one of the lucky ones who is able to get vaccinated soon, continue to wear a mask anyhow. Or start!!! The pandemic is still a long way from being done with our country. Americans need to take responsibility & do all they can do as individuals to stop it. The more we work to together, the sooner we can all take off our masks and return to what we knew as the "old normal". The more we work together, the less lives will be lost.
