(CNN)"As 2020 nears its end, the US reported a record death toll for the second day in a row, with more than 3,740 Covid-19 fatalities Wednesday.

And the outlook is grim for January. More than 80,000 Americans could die of Covid-19 over the next three weeks, a new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ensemble forecast projects -- offering a stark reminder the nation is still facing challenging times.

The new prediction comes amid ongoing vaccine distributions -- a roll-out experts say has been slower than they'd hoped. Vaccines will only make any meaningful impact once they're widely available to the public, experts have said, which likely won't be until the summer time."

Because my husband is older & works for a hospital, he will be getting his COVID vaccination as soon as it becomes available to him. It would be foolish for him to miss his turn. Unfortunately however, I will have to wait several months longer; like most other Americans. But with luck, maybe next year at this time, life will be back to normal again. One can only hope. Meanwhile, I will continue to count the full moons as the months pass.
