One Quarter Million Americans Now Dead 11-18-20

Wednesday US COVID News

“Covid-19 Live Updates: The Virus Has Now Killed 250,000 People in the U.S." New York Times

“On Wednesday alone, covid-19 killed nearly 1,900 more people — the highest number of fatalities reported in a single day since the first week of May, during some of the pandemic’s darkest days.

And on the same day, the country set a record for the number of virus patients hospitalized, a number that has more than doubled in the last month.” Washington Post

Beyond COVID super spreaders in the White House: “Two more Congress House members have tested positive for Covid-19, bringing tally of lawmakers who have been Covid-19 positive to 34. So far, 26 House members and eight senators have tested positive for the virus.” CNN

"COVID-19 has loomed over Congress for much of the year, yet lawmakers are still bickering over wearing face masks and not social distancing. And congressional leaders have refused to make coronavirus testing mandatory for lawmakers traveling back and forth to their home states. In less than a week, six lawmakers announced that they had tested positive for COVID-19. Grassley, the 87-year-old Iowa Republican who is third in line to the presidency as president pro tempore of the Senate, spent much of Monday on Capitol Hill. He cast votes, spoke on the Senate floor, and attended a meeting with Senate Republican leadership." USA Today

However, the big news today is about all the Americans who have been taken by COVID-19. The numbers are numbing. Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, husbands, wives, loved ones. Those lost to COVID were real people; not just numbers.

Wear a mask! Social distance! Save a life!!!

The numbers never get any better, and isn't it a shame that mask wearing and social distancing have been made into a partisan political statement!

On the other hand, this is a lovely image. V
