Until today, we haven’t had restaurant Chinese food since mid February…

USA COVID News Today
“Across the United States this summer, restaurants and bars, reeling from mandatory lockdowns and steep financial declines, opened their doors to customers. But the short-term gains have led to broader losses. Data from states and cities show that many community outbreaks of the coronavirus this summer have centered on restaurants and bars, often the largest settings to infect Americans. As cities and states have moved to reopen and many restaurant owners struggle to survive, the virus has come along for the ride.” NY Times
However, “Currently there is no evidence of food, food containers, or food packaging being associated with transmission of COVID-19.” FDA Aug 2020

Pleasantly surprised that his favorite Chinese restaurant (a mom & pop establishment) has managed to survive COVID so far, my husband ordered us Chinese “Take Out” for tonight. Now, I look forward to the time when we can someday return to actual restaurant dining. Although others may be more daring and are currently willing to take the risk of onsite dining, that pleasure for us will have to wait until after there is a safe & effective coronavirus vaccine. There is too much community transmission of COVID in our area for us to take the risk. Maybe by this time next year, things will again be safe... and then, an enjoyable meal out won't also mean a potential "life & death" situation.
