USA
738,830 cases of COVID-19
39,014 American Deaths

Local Update: "A federal judge on Saturday blocked Kansas from limiting attendance at in-person religious worship services or activities to 10 people or fewer to check the spread of the coronavirus." At the same time, the state health department reported that COVID-19-related deaths increased Saturday. Confirmed coronavirus cases also rose by in Kansas 5% today. To date, three COVID-19 clusters (with deaths) in Kansas had already been related to church gatherings. Those gatherings happened before the Kansas governor put in 10 person or less restrictions for gatherings of any kind. Governor Kelly said, "This is not about religion. This is about a public health crisis.” However, that limit has now been overruled for churches. As many as want can gather together tomorrow in Kansas churches.
I guess time will tell what that will do.

Meanwhile across the United States, Conservatives again protested against state & local government Stay-at-Home orders. "People rubbed elbows and shoulders, their signs and flags touching, many with their faces unmasked"
Stay-at-Home orders (with limits on crowd sizes) were put in place to protect people & to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Crazy times. Local doctors are very concerned about these new gatherings.
They say that one large gathering could cause a surge in COVID cases and deaths.

As the political battles rage, we're fortunate that we can be part of local on-line church services tomorrow and not have to risk our lives... I don't quite understand a need for anyone to gather in large, densely packed crowds at this time; not for any reason.

in Canada we have just over 35,000 total cases, and just over 15,000 death, from a population of 35 Million...early restrictions consistently applied have helped keep the numbers low...it is too soon for US citizens to mingle freely, in churches or anywhere else..

I realize that there are significant regional differences in the extent of infections during the pandemic, but the lack of a uniform and coordinated set of regulations likely prolongs the duration of this crisis, since the nation is still so interconnected. Since the major denominations seem to have no problem with remote worshiping it makes ya wonder what the motivation is for local churches to buck this trend. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it boils down to money that the leaders are loosing since they aren't able to pass the basket. My two cents.
