Growing Despite the Weird Weather
This is our fourth day of being under the Extreme Heat Warning that has griped 2/3 of the USA.
Meanwhile, areas in this part of the state are also still experiencing flooding.
Accompanying the extreme heat in our area
are winds that act like a convection oven. Rather than cooling things off, these winds are making things feel even more miserable. You feel like you're being slow cooked! When I shot this photo on Thursday, the actual temperature was 98 degrees with a heat index of 110. The high humidity was so oppressive that it was difficult to breath. IMO, the humidity is even harder to take than the high temperatures. The low temperature overnight was 83 degrees with a heat index of 90. I can't imagine being without A/C.
Today (Friday) is suppose to be over 100 degrees (actual temperature) with a heat index somewhere between 113 and 118. Ugh!!! I sure WON'T be outside today photographing flowers! Despite their getting watered twice a day, I'm concerned about plants on the deck surviving this brutal heat spell. They sure look droopy in between watering. However, they're all flowering right now like crazy. That must be taking a lot of their energy that they need to survive the heat.
