Lots of rain and heat this Spring, Summer, and now early Fall have had our hibiscus plants blooming like crazy. They seem to think they're in the tropics. Several days of rain are once again on the way; after we get past the current 5 day September heat wave in the 90's. Unfortunately, even if all the heavy rain and extreme heat seem to have spiked my tropical plants blooming, this has not been a good year for people to spend much time outdoors to enjoy the pretty flowers.
Looking back to 2018, I see that this plant was also in full bloom - with record setting temperatures - around the same date: https://pbase.com/britestar/image/168141331
So I guess this abnormal weather is now normal. There no longer is a "normal". My fear this Fall is a 90 degree day one & a hard freeze a few hours later. We've been seeing such weather in recent years.
Meanwhile, here was the action today inside the heart of this blossom https://pbase.com/britestar/image/169787307
