Chile's travel carrier was very tiny. However, she still had room to lay down, sit, or even stand the whole way up during the long trip from Vilnius to Chicago and then home with me. Chile and the carrier TOGETHER weighed 6 pounds 1 ounce.
Following the suggestion of her breeder, I let Chile make the decision as to when she was ready to come out of the carrier and meet me. I just sat on the floor of the Chicago hotel room and patiently waited until Chile felt enough at ease to venture out.
Having spent the night (before leaving Lithuania)in the care of one stranger and then being hand carried on the flight (from Vilnius to Chicago) by another stranger, Chile was under a lot of stress. Although a show dog (having already earned her Lithuania Junior Championship), she had always lived the life as a well loved, house pet. Going to a new home was a major change in her life.
With us, Chile now has her "forever" home.
