Christmas Day Full Moon 2015

2015 marked the first Christmas full moon in 38 years.
The last full moon to occur on Christmas Day was in 1977.

The next Christmas Full Moon will be in 2034.

Unfortunately,it was very cloudy here on Christmas. Top image

Fortunately, my patience and determination to photograph this historic moon did pay off. After waiting for what seemed to be forever, there was a 10 second (at most) clearing in the clouds. Bottom image.

Even in the clearer of the two shots was, the moon was still shrouded in a layer of clouds. So details aren't crisp. Following that brief moment, the returning clouds became so thick that even the moon light couldn't be seen...

Nevertheless, I did at least capture the rare Christmas Full Moon.

Wow. I don't know which of the two images I like better. So glad you are more patient than I am and got a great shot of the moon. I love the "cloud fringes" around it!
