Our second hike of the trip and this time we returned to the Escalante area and the canyon of Death Hollow which had defeated us last year due to the high volume of cold water flowing in the canyon after storms.

We started near the town of Boulder on 5th October and hiked the superb Boulder Mail Trail to Death Hollow, then down Death Hollow to the Escalante river, down the Escalante to the Boulder creek confluence, then up the east side of Boulder creek on slick rock on the 'Bringham Tea Bench' to Deer Creek and back by roads to Boulder and the trailhead. We 'bagged' a rocky dome summit on the way and did some other exploration. All in all another fantastic hike in Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument! Map here Also see our hiking blog
