7:24 AM

7:24 AM. After the previous image I went to the east end of the South Tufa field to look over one of my favorite views of the area in the pre-dawn light. A wonderful mist had formed over the lake and added a distinct earie feeling to the moment. Here I used my 70-200 F/4.0L lens at 200mm to compress the field of view, dramatize the mist, and give a greater feeling of depth to the image. Stopped down to f/13 to ensure focus throughout. 1/45 sec. I spent several minutes composing with the distant tufas, and trying to get some uncooperative seagulls to swim through the foreground. I was unaware of the sunrise on the distant sierras behind me which had just begun...

Nessi from Loch Ness would have loved this lake... but you can create your own myth around here. Anyway, this is absolutely gorgeous.
