6:36 PM. As the evening progressed, the wind continued to increase in strength and the lake became more and more agitated. The tufas were still glowing from the pinkish light lingering in the western sky (behind my back), but he sky to the east where I was shooting was largely blue and teal now. I was busy orchestrating shots along the shore with the lake tufa in the background, working around f/16 and f/22 with the camera inches from the ground to emphasize the foreground. The long expososures gave the rough, choppy water the appearance of silk, quite a departure from the actual conditions at the time. However, I loved the affect I was getting. This image was achieved only through wedging myself tightly in a crevice beneath a large tufa...I was actually lying on my side to allow a peak through the viewfinder. 20 sec, f/16.
