5:35 PM

5:35 PM. I zoomed in all the way with my 70-200L lens to compress the perspective here, as the last rays of the setting sun were hitting the far east shore of the lake. The shadow along the distant ridge greatly adds to the depth and interest of this shot. It was surprisingly difficult to bring the entire depth of this scene in focus, and had to stop way down to f/16 to keep everything sharp. I must have shot 10 pictures just like this one trying to get some seabirds to cooperate and swim across the lower part of the image...but to no avail. 1/60 sec, f/16.

Haunting, like the ruins of a castle.
