4:43 PM

4:43 PM. I love trying to find 'original' images when the light is not ideal, using what pieces of the environment I can weave together into an interesting composition. Here, a particularly tall tufa and relatively uncluttered foreground let me achieve a nice silhouette and shadow amid the tufa field. Metering this one was particularly challenging; I'm happy that I bracketed this one liberally, as only this image did not overexpose the sky. 1/250, f/8.

Brian,
Excellent job on both composition, and exposure. I can see that this was a challenge to capture the shadow detail without blowing out the sky -- great work!
God Bless,
Greg

What else can we ask for. I know… the moon is missing.
Simply stunning.
