Day #2, Last Image 5:50 PM

5:50 PM. I had to shoot without a tripod for this shot, standing on my tip toes to isolate this tufa tower from the background. I've done a little bit of dodging here to darken the area around the perimeter of this image, to accentuate the lightness of the top of this tufa tower. 1/30 sec, f/8, ISO 400. I see there's also some footprints I'll have to take care of at a later time! This was the last image of a somewhat dissappointing afternoon at Mono Lake - the lighting really never came together that well, and the clouds kept the best of the light off the lake that evening. But one always has to make the best of the situation, and I would have never made it over to the Sand Tufas if the light had been ideal...so in a way, I'm thankful how it turned out. I had to work very hard for every image this day.

Wonders are nature ways. With your sensitive eyes every stone turns to be aparticipant in a big drama.

The implied water level is beautifully executed here.
