The four blindfolded Moors are the symbol of Sardinia; they date to the period of Spanish rule in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, but since then no one has been able to agree on a replacement. Modern representations of the "quattro mori" show them with the blindfolds pushed up on their foreheads, allowing them to see.
