This is the first Catholic Church built in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island.
I believe it was built in the 1860's and was last used in 1888.
The locals refer to this as the "Butter Church" as the Catholic Father at the time paid for the stone mason work by selling the butter made from his milk cow.
