Here is a closeup detail of heiroglyphic carving on a wall of the temple. Egyptologists have been able to translate this pictorial language thanks to the Rosetta Stone, an ancient stele inscribed with the same passage of writing in two Egyptian language scripts and in classical Greek. The heiroglyphic language is read from top to bottom, right to left, when written in columns as shown here.
