The photos in this gallery are from our former home - the home that we lived in for 20 years. In 2001, Steve made me a garden in our small backyard. I filled it with roses, perennials and lots of love. I spent many hours in that backyard tending to my flowers and watching the birds. When we moved to our new home, I left most everything in the garden behind - I took a few perennials but that's all. It never bothered me to leave the house, but I missed (and still do) my little garden. After hearing from our former next door neighbor that the couple who bought our home had moved and the house was vacant, we went back to see if there was anything left in the garden. I couldn't believe my eyes when I walked through the gate, for all that is left is a yard full of weeds - no sign at all of what once had been my little Secret Garden.
The flowers in this gallery are what prompted my love of photography - I must have emailed hundreds of pictures of this little garden to all of my family and friends, and they were all so sweet and kind to always pay me compliments, which made me want to work harder at gardening and photography - and some of those early pictures were truly awful!!
Anyway, I just wanted to create a special gallery for the garden that brought me so much joy. I'm now looking at my current backyard and thinking "hmmmm .... I think it's time ....."
Brenda, that is so sad that someone wouldn't keep up a beautiful yard like this. Nothing makes me happier when I get home after a stressful day just to be able to walk around in my little corner of paradise and look at my beautiful flowers, and I know you will have all of that back with your beautiful new home. You will have to post some pictures as it advances. Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos that you will have to remember forever -- your secret little garden.

Oh Brenda It was simply gorgeous! I have no doubt that you will have a garden like this again. I know your heart breaks for the lack of appreciation of the new owners, but you were able to appreciate it's beauty and it was God's proof of what a little love and nourishment ( and a lot of work!) can produce. Thanks for sharing my friend... and if the only purpose of this little garden was to get you to share your photographic abilities with the world, then it was sooo worth it.

Miss Brenda - As long as you have breath in you, I know there will be a beautiful garden again to photograph soon. I look forward to seeing you start again, take what you've learned in the past few years about photography to capture the essence of what you see, and to share it with us. What are you keeping us waiting for? Get started, Girl! Tammy Holcomb

Brenda, I know how much you miss your garden and all the beautiful roses but you do have your pictures and the wonderful memories of Wheatfield. Maybe we can make another beautiful garden..at your house and mine. Seems my backyard is my front yard and I'd love to look out there and see all the beauty that I know can be there. Maybe next year.......
Love, Mother
