Artist Point DSC_2278sm.jpg

Yellowstone Wyo

Artist point or the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Probably the most photographed spot in Yellowstone Park. It is totally beautiful no matter which angle you see it at.

Yep, my most favorite stop in the figure 8! Photos just don't do it justice though. That being said, this is one of the best photos I've seen of it! Great job, Bre! Just 4 more weeks and we're all taking photos together...can't wait!

The light you captured is beautiful, and I can almost hear the roar. Well done.

You've certainly done justice to it and this is one of the best I've seen. The scale you've captured here is incredible. That waterfall looks gigantic!

Impressive capture. Had you considered cropping tighter at the left to create a better balance of waterfall at left with the foreground rocks at the right (more of the scene at the right might also have been good for that balance)? Also, the top feels a bit too tight to me and I'm wanting to see more of the scene above the falls, which would have been no problem with plenty of room to go wider to go with your lens. Also, if you had a tripod and ND filters, it would have been interesting to stop down a bit and use ISO100 to allow for some slower shutter speeds to change the effect of the water for some variations on your theme. Regardless of desired shutter speed for freezing/painting motion, a narrower aperture, even say f/11, would also bring the falls into clearer focus and should be manageable handheld at 1/250 sec in these lighting conditions. Great subject and I like the depth you've created with your composition by showing the river all the way to the front.

This is really great, Bre. The water looks paused in mid-air, but only for a moment.
