Oak Alley_0543-01

Vacherie, Louisiana

The 300 year old trees that give Oak Alley it's name were planted 100 years before this house was bulit. A trapper that lived on the land planted them so that the steamboats would know where to stop. You can see Gayle's shot of a different view of the alley from the house to the river at http://www.pbase.com/gpc/image/42578307 .

This has a real Gone with the Wind and the old South feel to it. I just love that tree lined walk. Beautiful.

Nice shot. Like the branches framing the path.

This is great Breland, and I still need to get this one for myself.

Thanks for this Breland. This scene has always stuck in my memory since seeing in on my [first] honeymoon back in March of 1966!

Great shot, Breland. You shot at the right time of the day. I shall ask permission to use it on the Live Oak Society page.

This is by far my favorite house on the river road. Breland, you got one great shot. Lighting is perfect.
