Spillway Gauge

Spillway

This gauge is imbedded in the flood gate structure and is reading 16 1/2 feet. The Army Corp of Engineers is predicting an early rise in the river this year. They predict the ricer to crest at 16.5 feet at the Carrolton gauge in New Orleans that means it will read 18.5 feet here. If they open the gates it is a spectacular sight to see.

Breland, forgot to say I like this. Had never noticed the nice rocks in the cement or the tile gauge.

Breland, my dad opened the first lock the first time it was opened and was there for every opening afterwards until his death. So far I have not missed one. I used to think it was so thrilling but the older I get the more danger I see in it.
