Bonfires at Dusk

Lutcher, Louisiana

Another shot of the line of bonfires looking up river at dusk. The fire you see is not a bonfire being lit but a small campfire. A lot of the bonfire builders guard there creation around the clock just in case some rival may want to light it ahead of time. Also note the different stages of construction they are in. I will be sure to take Gayle to this spot on Christmas Eve to get pictures of the lighting for all pbase users. There are several ways to see the bonfires, you can drive the river road, take a paddle wheeler upriver from New Orleans or find a place to park and walk along the levee. The atmosphere is friendly and you may be invited to enjoy some great Cajun cooking along the way.

This is the same shot that Gayle posted but from a slightly different angle.

Great sunset too. I'm looking forward to the Xmas eve shots. Do you have time to do it both ways?
