More than 100 people attend an open house to get a look at area development goals. No Fishhawk truck route... Those were just a few of the comments.... The committee recommends changing one of the Eastern Hillsborough truck routes, which currently runs along Bloomingdale Avenue, to Boyette Road and Fishhawk Boulevard.

The meeting also attracted residents from Riverview and FishHawk Ranch who were alarmed at the committee's suggestion the county remove Bloomingdale Avenue from the county's truck route plan and put the designation on Boyette Road and FishHawk Boulevard when those roads are widened.

"Don't try to take your truck traffic and shove it off on Riverview," Boyette Spring resident Dave Kulow told committee members. He noted there are 12 schools and preschools located or planned along Boyette and FishHawk.

March 26, 2009 Open House:
The Brandon Community Plan (Draft of March 26, 2009) proposes Goal 1 #6: Relocate the truck route from Bloomingdale Avenue to Boyette Road / Fishhawk Boulevard once widening of those roadways to four lanes is complete. (Thank you very much, Brandon)

The Planning Department has asked for citizen input: William Lamboy (email) lamboyw@hillsboroughcounty.org
Some main points: The recommendation made by Brandon is outside their planning district (Southern boundary is Bloomingdale Ave). Request the recommendation be removed as the Brandon committee does not represent Lithia. If the recommendation is not removed request a public meeting to be held in Lithia for citizen input.

NO TRUCKS - A loaded phosphate truck weighs 50,000 pounds! Exposure to molten sulphur can be deadly!
