Friends at the square in front of the former Santa Clara Convent (now the Town Hall, or *Câmara Municipal*) in the historic center of Guimarães.
In the 16th century, the building in the background was part of the richly appointed Santa Clara Convent (Order of Saint Clare); its chapel was deconsecrated in the 19th century.
The façade features Baroque and Classical elements, and a historic statue of Saint Clare still stands above the entrance.

The square is situated in the heart of Guimarães' Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture.
