The site is a landmark of the Ruhr region and attracts millions of visitors annually
who want to experience the history of mining and the structural transformation of the region.
The structures of Shaft XII visible today were designed by architects Fritz Schupp and Martin Kremmer
and are a well-known example of Bauhaus architecture in industry and were put into operation in 1932.
