Given Names to Astronomical Objects

In many cases over the long adventure story told in these pages, I've found myself staring at the fruit of my labor –
usually a dark, emission or reflection nebula - and from within it, staring me right out in my face, was another, more earthly object...

I could seldom fight the temptation of simply naming the object after its earthly counterpart - may it be a "leaping puma" or a "seahorse", or even a "laughing skull"...
It's probably the sinister high-tech copywriter inside me enjoying the ride, but... - whatever :-)

It turned out that many-an-astrophotographer had found these names compelling, and these names stuck.
My little, funny, and utterly not-important contribution to posterity.

In this gallery I'll include some of the original images, also linking to some of the places I saw them again.
My many thanks to all my peers who could relate to these names and have found them worthy of the utterly beautiful, ever breathtaking, fruit of their labor.
