Manikarnika Ghat

One of the oldest and most sacred ghats in Varanasi. Manikarnika is the main burning ghat, and one of the most auspicious places that a Hindu can be cremated. The building to the left are hospices, containing those waiting to die, and continue the cycle of death and rebirth.

I can only imagine what it must be like in these buildings to the left where they come from everywhere to spend their last days and in poor health. On some days, they must look out on the Ganges and then see the fires, only knowing that soon they too will burn...so simple it's calming.
