Merlin strikes terror in Howard Backyard

On 12/9/17, as I arrived home from birding, a Merlin streaked into the backyard, sending the feeder birds into hiding. The raptor landed on a neighbor's roof gutter, sending panic through the flock of Mourning Doves perched in our large maple. As the falcon made its move, two of the doves panicked and took off in different directions. The merlin was right on the tail (literally) of one dove that was heading south towards Spearing Street anf GP Cabinets and they flew out of sight. A minute later, I hear the scolding of crows and jays. I got in the car to look for the bird. I located the Merlin and its prey on top of a utility pole, and got these photos using the car as a blind. Overcast gray sky and muted light did not help the exposures but here are some examples of a Merlin with prey, shot with an Olympus OM-D EM-1 Mark II with the Olympus 40-150mm f2.8 lens and 1.4x tele extender (420mm equivalent) .
