Turf Soaring School

I decided to head out late Sunday afternoon to Lake Pleasant, but detoured to the sailport, just south of Carefree Highway and Lake Pleasant Road. I wanted to see if I could get some more shots of gliders, and had not been there since taking a flight back in the mid 80’s. The wind was out of the west, and I wanted to capture take-offs, so I walked down the runway to set up. They will let you wander about, but get nervous if you get too close to the flight line. The photos were taken with a C-750 10x (380mm) zoom, so that was really not an issue…. however, they did drive out once to ask me to move back a bit, as I tend to press things to get “the best” shot.
