Overnight at The Highlands provided a rare opportunity: to shoot a landscape at the onset of dusk and before the break of dawn.

Planning dusk shots are easy: just look for a lighted structure to frame against the dimming sky and then wait for the right moment. If the weather cooperates, i.e., the skies are clear, you're guaranteed to capture intense blue skies...

Dawn shots are a little trickier: you have to study the shape of the land and imagine how the shadows will form. It's this interplay of light and shadow across a strangely lit landscape that gives dawn shots that unique look. And it's always exciting to see what actually happens.

And even if you get it only half right, you'll capture a spectacle not often seen by the rest, (since they are since fast asleep .) Enjoy.
