can anybody have a great picture of the twin towers of PANDANGAN,right near valugan mahatao,if you are free diver you never miss this expectacular twin rocks and weird sorroundings of both rocks,that you have to master the currents that runs in it or you will be swept to nowhere or end-up being a SHARK BAIT.ivatan ako pa.dios mamahes

I was in Batanes summer of 2009 with my Nanay, Josefa Gabaldon-Hontoria, an Isabtang. All the amateur photos I took, printed and soft copies were gone when Ondoy struck us in San Mateo. The few pieces I sent my friends, those were all that I was able to retrieve. Thank you for sharing these photos way before Ondoy took away the most memorable photos I have. Please let me use these photos as background in our worship songs at church. They are really awesome. I remember the 2009 Easter Sunday when we were atop the so-called Marlboro hills. The sunrise was really breathtaking. God must love the Ivatans so much so that He gave them these beautiful sunrises and sunsets, hills, cliffs, the quiet idyllic afternoons, unpolluted air, EVERYDAY. Thank you for sharing your gift. Through you and your camera's lens, we were able to hold these photos longer and be brought back to my parents' homeland again and again. God bless you more. Susan

(Manyid si Gelio) I remembered my first trip to Sabtang in 1992. That was truly scary with billowing waves. I wonder if it was Maran si Gelio piloting the falowa in 1992.I've always thought of doing another Sabtang trip but my vacation is always quick. Wonderful pictures! I am still keeping a profile of the LAkbay Awards where your picutre of Basco bay was featured and you as Best Travel photographer. I dreamed of becoming one someday but i am just not cut out to become a photographer-but i have the eyes for appreciating those that deserve-I just truly love your pictures of batanes.

Wow, these are really great photo's! I've been planning to go to Batanes and Im a start up photographer, I just bought my first dslr a canon 450d with the kit lens...if i go there will my lens and camera do the job? what should i bring and prepare for the trip to take great pics like yours? i only have a cheap tripod too...hehehe they said "an expensive camera does'nt eman greater pics" I hope you can help me out...please email me tips or schools where i can learn photography, I'm from Paranaque? my email address is paolo.dacanay@gmail.com , i do hope you can help me out...many thanks!

Give credit where it's due if in a magazine (but would you not need a high resolution file for a magazine?). Am glad you're into photography. If you need help just say so. Or join my photographic safaris and photo workshops. I just came from Ifugao (Kiangan, Banaue, Mayawyaw and Bangaan) on a 4-day photo safari with my students. I find it more effective to teach photography on location.

As I look forward on having my vacation again in Batanes. I feel sentimental whenever i see pictures of MY BATANES..It never grows old rekindling fond memories of my childhood. Having decided to pursue a career outside the country, I've promised to visit VATAN every chance I can..To fellow Ivatans, we should be proud of OUR BATANES. I feel proud whenever I introduce myself as Ivatan considering that sometimes when I try to show my collegues where I came from, they laugh coz we're not even on the map! hi there.. nice pictures.. its really a WOW! no wonder UNESCO's WOrld Heritage inlcuded batanes in the list coz of its magnificent views and ivatan culture. my boss' son owns an aviation company and will soon open flights to basco and itbayat. he's been asking me for some informations regarding airfare costs, what airline etc. etc. and he's very much eager in opening his own flight there. if he's not that busy in some of their business here, he wanted to visit batanes using their own plane before proceeding to his business. nwie, i hope to see more beautiful pix of batanes and i hope that u will feature uyugan also. i'm from there by the way and i'm sure there are also beautiful views in my town.. thanks and more power....

I'm with you Avid visitor. I'm not a visitor but an Ivatan now living in a different Country as nice as Batanes but has a very high standard in terms of all around cleanliness. (Yes, nearly spotless!The local council even occasionaly vacuum the roads for any unwanted rubbish ) I wish Batanes could do more because its a turn-off for all people visiting the place. The view sure looks nice. Thanks for your hardwork in promoting BATANES....It would be far more great if the provincial and the municipal government including the department of tourism should do something sanitation wise regarding the pigs along the shoreline bushes. Hog raising should be done on the farm. It is unsanitary and an eye sore to everybody especially the visitors. Clean shorelines free of contaminants is a number one pre-requisite for a environmentally sound international tourist spot This is just one among the concerns of the international community. Especially the environmentalist. Ma you continue to strive for the best. I'll be in BATANES soon.

Hi Noli, I had a great time looking at your newest photos of Batanes and am still left amazed by how breathtaking they all are. Mañed si Gelio is a favorite because fair or bad weather he makes the crossing from Sabtang to the mainland and everytime his motorboat comes near Tuhel in Ivana, he draws a crowd including me while i was there in Batanes to guess on how fast his vessel goes or how he maneuvers to avoid the bigger waves or at times how he fares when a race goes on with the other motorboats to reach the port first. He could aptly be called the Daredevil of the sea between Ivana and Sabtang.Thank you so much for capturing a fine moment in one his trips. May God bless you .

Im so glad I had a chance to check out my mothers place, BATANES last April 17-20, 2006. It was a 4-day super summer adventure and in that 4 days, I was fortunate enough to visit three islands. Everything was so exceptional. I was amazed seeing flying dolphins, clusters of horses and cows living in an island, rare rock and coral formations, breath-taking view and last but not the least, the culture of Ivatans that is well preserved. Last May 8, The Correspondents (ABS-CBN 2) featured a documentary entitled "Sa Dulong Isla". I was amazed and truly astounded by the unique and natural beauty of Batanes. While watching the show, I found myself craving to explore this small paradise. However, I was saddened by the fact that there are poachers (allegedly from Taiwan) who are constantly going to the areas of Batanes to fish! The Ivatans are helpless and they just watch these poachers steal from their waters since our government do not have enough logistics to patrol the Batanes seas and supposedly protect them from illegal fishers! On the other hand, it made me feel happy that the Ivatans would not let progress destroy their lands. To them, contentment is not found in any material aspect but in how you commune with nature. Though I am not an Ivatan, I am one with them in preserving their priceless heritage.

Wow, great photos! Congratulations! I hope all those who view these photos join us in preserving the natural beauty and the unique heritage of Batanes. It is now a protected area (the only province to be so declared) and hopefully, it will soon be inscribe in UNESCO's World Heritage List.

I postponed my trip to Batanes since I'm needed in Iran right away. The pictures do suffice for now; they're great! I heard our classmates already had our 30th-year reunion. I hope you were there,too. Send us more pictures, we can't have enough of Batanes! Keep up the good work!
