Doing the rounds in my garden, I spotted a large netting of the Orb web spider and walked towards it inadvertently frightening off a small grasshopper in the grass that leaped straight into the spider's web. Before I could get my wits about me and my camera working, the spider had very quickly spun thread around his victim. It was incredibly quick work. The poor grasshopper never had a chance. Though I felt guilty, I kept shooting; that's all one can do if one does not entertain notions of playing God. Before I knew it the spider had bagged his dinner. My first shot was recorded at 12:46 P.M., the second at 12:47 and the last at 12:50. Four seconds, and that's a wrap.
