The Fremont people lived in what is now known as the Nine Mile Canyon for nearly a thousand years. They left wonderful art still to be seen there in many locations. It is unknown why they left around 800 years ago. This is known today as "The Great Hunt Panel", near the mouth of Cottonwood Canyon.
