This is one of two main entrances to the walled city of Amberg, Germany. Beyond this gate are the narrow cobblestone streets lined with small shops much like it was hundreds of years ago. Repair of the streets is still done one cobble stone at a time.

A military post located on a hill overlooking the old city, occupied by the U. S. Army, was once a major Nazi SS Headquarters.
