Dwight E. Snider Jr. 19-Oct-2011 16:21
Nice photo. I saw this aircraft at the Pima Air Museum (I live in Arizona). My father, MSgt. Dwight E. Snider was the Flight Attendant for Ike. When Gen. Eisenhower returned to France to take over SHAPE, the families of the crew members were ferried to Paris on 8614. I flew on it in early 1951 at age six. I still remember the flight, and seeing the Aurora Borealis that night. The aircraft was stationed at Orly in a separate compound called the SHAPE Flight Section. When Ike returned to The Us, Sgt. Snider stayed with 8614 at Orly to fly with Gens. Gruenther, Norstad, and Ridgeway.
