Caladesi Island

During the 4,000 years that Caladesi Island has been in existence,there have been few inhabitants. Before 1500 it was used by Native Americans,and in the late 1800's it was homesteaded for more than 50 years by the Scharrers. The island was purchased in 1968 by the State of Florida to be preserved as a State Park.
