The large spiral galaxy on the left (5364) and the
elliptical galaxy on the right (5363) are about
54 million light years away, and located in the constellation
Virgo. These two galaxies seem to be gravitationally
involved with one another, which may explain the
lane of material across the face of NGC 5363.
Many more distant galaxies can be seen in the background.
Among these, the edge-on spiral galaxy below 5365 is
NGC 5360, and the edge-on spiral in the
lower right corner is NGC 5356.
