Unknown, "Looney Tunes Set" Size: 1.47" Price: SOLD

Here is your chance at a VERY rare set of marbles, 6 Warner Bros Looney Tunes character sulphide marbles. I only know of one other set of these, and it sold at auction for $325 not too long ago, so I'm offering this set for a really nice price here. These are prototype compatibility test marbles! Some years ago, there was a West Virginia company that was exploring the idea of a machine to make sulphides. They had acquired a number of licensed Looney Tunes and Disney figures, etc., and had some artist do a compatibility testing. It is thought that Jody Fine had done some and perhaps Sammy Hogue, wish I knew for sure. They are handmade and done in soda-lime soft glass. To automate the process of putting figurines in glass would be near impossible without a complex setup so this is probably why the project never went any further, just too hard take the handmade aspect out of the process. I have also learned that a French company named Holophane made some of these, so that was likely another company that was testing the prospects of making these in mass quantities. Anyway, here's a chance to own a really neat piece of marble history!
