I love watching Outback Opal Hunters, and this marble brings me right back to that show, as there is the huge amazing white opal on the surface, and then 3 gorgeous smaller black opals tucked underneath the dichro designs. In the show, the opal hunters will sometimes find nice opal on the surface, discarded or unseen by early hunters, but they usually have to put in very hard work digging and tunneling through the earth to find it. It's a great metaphor for us humans, who sometimes have treasure shining on the surface, but more often, we find it hidden below, where we have to spend some time looking for it. This is a neat gem of a marble that Jes created, and it was tough to photograph. I couldn't go too bright on the front, or I would overexpose the gorgeous white opal....which then makes the neat black opals hard to see underneath.
