I first met Jes in the early 2000's at the Tucson Best Bead Show, a vibrant character and awesome human who is full of life and unending smiles. Over the years I've watched Jes grow and hone his craft and art to the point that he is now making some of the most beautiful and vibrant marbles around, full of imagination and energy! I feel like Jes is really a true artist in the sense that each of his marbles really tell a story, and in fact it's HIS story that you see play out in the marbles. If you ever meet Jes in person you'll know exactly what I mean. Each piece has real depth and layers to both the beauty and also the story within. These are marbles that are created for contemplation and study, to dig into what Jes is saying, and in turn what the marbles are speaking to you. I really like that about Jes' work, and I see new things every time I look at each marble. I think you'll feel this same sense of discovery and provocative thought as you let yourself dive into the glass. As Jes put it himself, "I am always practicing, learning and trying ideas and ancient techniques to discover new ways to articulate my "Voice Visions" into these unique and fine creations!" Jes Hails from Duluth, Minnesota and his influences are based on the different elements of the natural world and its relationship to his Ojibwe/Finnish/Middle Eastern heritage.
