From John: "A handkerchief descends in a windy flurry, thrown by a lady to her love that she leaves on the docks as she embarks on a journey at sea. In that way the lacy white textures become steam and sea-froth as the huge, steely retti-ship departs in the foggy morn, and of course since the ship is ill-fated (am I too ghoulish?) that handkerchief will forever be his last hint of his departed love."
